This is also a good time for BVARS members to assess their radio readiness. If called upon to assist with comms from your community, or to go assist elsewhere, am I prepared? Family is taken care of, radio gear in good order?
This week, try something different. Do a stint portable, try a back-up antenna, learn a new feature in Winlink or APRS systems….. or all of the above! Your choice.
The USGS and Winlink folks are doing an earthquake “did you feel it?” exercise open to hams world wide. Maybe take the opportunity to learn Winlink html forms or try Winlink for first time (even Telnet). Info at https://www.winlink.org/content/great_shakeout
Let us know what you did (along with hours and any mileage you put in). VE7RBH will be monitoring Winlink email (try General check-in form) and APRS messaging all week (or regular email, but not as much fun).
Also, don’t forget the weekly northern BC VHF net on Sunday morning!
