2019 Field Day! June 22-23
The BVARS will be participating in the North America wide Field Day exercise/contest June 22-23 at the group campsite at Tyhee Lake Provincial Park. The goal of Field Day is to practice setting up an emergency field station and running it for 24 hours contacting as many other Field Day stations as we can on as many modes and bands as we can, do some PR with the public and emergency officials, and most importantly just have some fun radio time and get together with fellow hams! Note that all interested folks are welcome! Those without a licence can still participate and get on the air.
Info on Field Day event and the contest rules are at http://www.arrl.org/field-day
Official setup will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday June 22nd with antenna raising etc. We will then run for 24 consecutive hours (may take a few hours off in wee hours of the morning....) starting anytime between the 11:00 and 13:00. Sunday afternoon will be tear down, relaxing, etc.
The event will also be run as an EMBC Emergency Communications exercise.
