Thank you to all our supporters! Especially: the Province of British Columbia (Community Gaming Grants); CN Railroaders (grants); Houston-Smithers and Skeena Rebroadcast Societies (access to repeater sites); Town of Smithers and Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue (station facilities and internet access); VE7EPT and VE7MHW (hosting IRLP/EchoLink nodes, APRS HF gateway).
2020 Annual General Meeting, December 6th!
The 2020 virtual AGM was a success! Congratulations to the two prize winners: VA7WLR and VE7PGB.
The new Board is:
President: Jesse VE7LRX
Vice-President: Matt VE7MHW
Secretary-Treasurer: Doug VE7EPT
Director: Gary VE7LCP
Director: Mark VA7MNV
Director: Bryce VE7HNS
The annual general meeting of the Bulkley Valley Amateur Radio Society will take place on Sunday December 6 at 1 PM (13:00) by Zoom (joining instructions below). Note you can join (audio only) by phone as well.
There will be draws for two Radio Amateurs of Canada one-year memberships (new or renewal) including electronic access to the TCA magazine. One draw will be for those who have paid 2021 BVARS dues regardless of attending the AGM, the second will be for paid members who also attend the AGM (two chances!).
The business meeting will be followed by some short technical presentations: e.g., accessing and using remote SDR (software defined radio) receivers through the internet, messaging to/from cell-phones using the APRS system. If you have a brief presentation you would like to make, let us know!
If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to pay membership dues for 2021; which may be done at our website, or by sending Interac email money transfer to ve7rbh@gmail.com, or by cash/cheque to PO box 982 in Smithers. Annual dues are $20 for RAC members, $30 for non-members.
Draft documents are available for review at the bottom of this post.

COVID-19 and the BVARS
The BVARS is following public health rules and advice by minimizing face-face interactions during the pandemic emergency. However, we are maintaining our over-the-air and online presence! We are maintaining our communications network and with our Emergency Communications Volunteers will respond as best we can to any communications emergencies that arise.
Mean while, if you are stuck at home why not tackle those radio projects you have put off, get on the HF contests and nets, or if you are not licenced yet or want that Advanced licence take an online course or self study! Radio Amateurs of Canada is offering both Basic and Advanced on-line courses starting the middle of April www.rac.ca/radio-amateurs-of-canada-offers-new-online-amateur-radio-courses/
